White Birch Acres

Registered Alpine, Oberhasli, and Recorded Grade Dairy Goats

   About Us

White Birch Acres was established in 1974 in East Hartford CT by Janet Harlow. Her foundation doe and 4-H project, Adds Up Tequila, was a Recorded Grade Alpine type doe. In 1985 Janet married Robert Ferguson and moved White Birch Acres to their home in Coventry CT.

In the following years son Christopher and daughter Melissa joined 4-H and continued to grow our goat herd. With continued breeding our herd now consists of American Alpines and Recorded Grades. Our grades are working back toward American Oberhasli. We are very proud to say all of our goats originate from our foundation doe.

As a mother and daughter team our herd started attending local ADGA shows again in 2007. Our breeding program has been successful producing several ADGA Breed Champion and Reserve Champions, three Finished Champions, and one Best Udder of Show. Our 2016 show season has added Three Best Junior Does in Show to our accomplishments. We are excited to attend our first National Show in Harrisburg PA this year.

We are a CAE negative herd.  All our kids are sold tattooed, disbudded, and with ADGA papers. We also offer Alpine stud service.

Join 4-H: Udder Butter Goat Club

Udder Butter Goat Club is a Hartford County 4-H Club that was established by Janet in 1974 with three members. The club now has 30 members some whom own their own animals as well as several that have their learning experience through leasing from our herd. The club meets throughout the year learning about Dairy Goats health, nutrition, care, grooming, and showing. The club offers unique hands on learning experiences. Aside from the annual Hartford County 4-H fair many members show at other local fairs as well as the Eastern States Exposition Youth show. Many of our club members are active within the Fair Association holding officer positions. New members are always welcome. Please contact us on our contact page.
